WAYS TO USE LEMONGRASS

Cymbopogon Citratus or Lemongrass is an aromatic spice in a shrub-like form. The sweet herbaceous lemongrass is relatively easy to find in Asia and many people grow lemongrass in their homes. The intriguing flavor of lemongrass makes it a versatile plant for cooking soups or stir fries, but that´s not all. Here are more ways to use lemongrass at home!

  • Create an irresistible grilled meat

Sometimes fish can smell awful but lemongrass margination will fix it. Marinade your fish, pork or beef using lemongrass and garlic before grilling them to perfection. The incredibly aromatic flavor will come out and create tasteful juicy meat for your dinner. Wonderful!

  • Mosquito, go away!

Lemongrass contains citronella oil that repels mosquitoes. If your lemongrass is dried out, don’t throw it away just yet. Boil water in a pan with chopped lemongrass until the water changes to greenish color. Let it cool and sprinkle the lemongrass water on the garden. Or you can put non-toxic mosquito repellent in a spray bottle, add a little bit of salt and spray it inside the rooms.

  • Make curry paste

Oh that hearty bowl of Thai green curry chicken is to die for! That aromatic blends of spices from turmeric, ginger, green chillies, lemon,  lemongrass and cumin powder make an authentic green curry paste that you can use any time. Put them all in a mixer along with pepper, and salt to taste, and a few drops of VCO until the blend forms a paste. Store it in an airtight container in your fridge for later use.

  • Make lemongrass syrup

Combine coconut sugar with 3 sticks of lemongrass and 250 ml of water in a saucepan. Boil until the sugar dissolves and the scent of lemongrass comes out. Let it cool. This syrup can be used in your fruit salad bowl, gelatos, yogurt to add a citrusy flavor.

  • Make lemongrass green tea

The lemony, citrusy taste of lemongrass is a perfect thirst quencher. Lemongrass is an ingredient found in varieties of artisanal herbal teas and the most popular mixture is lemongrass and green tea or lemongrass and ginger. Lemongrass and its antibacterial properties make a great recipe to improve digestion and relieve stress.
